About the account.
The Mooleyarrah NaturePlus™ is regenerating 18,591 hectares of native forest in the Mulga Lands bioregion of New South Wales. Mooleyarrah consists largely of semi-open flooded country enhanced by billabongs and channels with natural water fed from the Paroo, Cuttaburra and Kulkyne channels into watercourses. Box swamps and flood plains are interspersed by Gidgee clumps and lignum channels. The balance of country is predominantly Red Box, soft Mulga and Rosewood. Mooleyarrah Station overlaps with the Paroo Floodplain & Currawinya Key Biodiversity Area which is one of 333 nature hotspots currently recognised across Australia under the Global Standard for the Identification of Key Biodiversity Areas. The Cuttaburra Lake is a distinct feature on Mooleyarrah and to the west, the property forms a boundary with the Paroo River. The claypans of Kulkyne Creek form a continuous chain running north to south in the western portion of Mooleyerrah.
The goal of the project is to measure native vegetation condition and quantify change over time. Land management activities are governed by a carbon project registered with the Australian Government’s Clean Energy Regulator. The establishment of environmental accounts is intended to support ongoing management decisions that may include management of grazing, fire, pests and weeds, forest retention and infrastructure upgrades to encourage maintenance and/or improvement in the condition and extent of native vegetation.
