About the account.

The Strathmore is protecting and regenerating 384 hectares of native forest in the South Eastern Queensland bioregion of Queensland. The Property lies within the Burnett catchment. The property consists of varying soil types including mainly tenosols on steeper slopes with chromosols and sodosols on lower slopes and gently undulating areas hills and lowlands. There are also areas alluvial river and creek flats following Reeds Creek. The vegetation on Strathmore ranges from blue gum (Eucalyptus tereticornis), silver-leaved ironbark (Eucalyptus melanophloia) narrow-leaved ironbark (Eucalyptus crebra) woodlands with areas of Moreton Bay Ash (Corymbia tessellaris) and lemon scented gums (Corymbia citriodora).

The goal is to measure native vegetation condition and quantify change over time. Land management activities are governed by a carbon project registered with the Australian Government’s Clean Energy Regulator. The establishment of environmental accounts is intended to support ongoing management decisions that may include management of grazing, fire, pests and weeds, forest retention and infrastructure upgrades to encourage maintenance and/or improvement in the condition and extent of native vegetation.
