Significant Outcomes.

The first year of environmental data collection on Paul Speirs’ property provided an evidence based environmental condition assessment of the Native Vegetation and Soil. The Econd® values recorded are indicative of a farm that aims to balance productive capacity and environmental conditions with regenerative agricultural principles.  

Native Vegetation: The Econd® for the whole property is 17.5, however when assessing the Native Vegetation Assessment Units in the conservation areas of the property, an Econd® of 48.4 was generated.

Limitations & disclosures.

Property size - Due to the size of the property, external factors such as neighboring properties had a large influence through the 1 km configuration context indicator. In addition revegetation projects on the property did not meet the 20m minimum width required for field measurements and were assigned an Econd of 0.

Edge effects- 40% of the property is set aside for conservation. However, it should be noted that the creek runs through the middle of the riparian vegetation so there may be some edge effects from the creek banks and/or fence lines.

Sub-canopy height- The Victorian source for reference benchmark does not include values for sub-canopy height. For this first account this indicator has been scored as N/A, however as the NV sub-assets include a sub-canopy cover indicator with a reference benchmark, subsequent submissions will seek expert opinion for the determination of a reference benchmark.
