Significant outcomes.
An Econd® score of 31.6 was recorded across the 708 ha Kenmay Station of which 336 ha is remnant or regenerating vegetation. Of note Spotted gum woodlands were in the best condition, with an Econd® score of 81 indicating a highly intact ecosystem. While Rainforest communities were in the least favourable condition, with an Econd® score of 59 reflecting significant weed issues in rainforest areas.
Accuracy of vegetation mapping
Some parts of the environmental account have not been field-verified and it is likely that additional surveys would identify inaccuracies in digital vegetation mapping. However, vegetation mapping was undertaken by an experienced vegetation ecologist, and we consider the material impact to have a minor impact on the accuracy of the findings presented in this account. For this reason, some survey points had to be moved to ensure sampling of the correct vegetation type occurred.
Fire event
On the 28 October 2023 an unplanned fire occurred on Kenmay Station. Preliminary accounts suggest the fire occurred in a considerable portion of the property. The extent of impact is unknown and follow up surveys will be undertaken 6-12 months post fire to allow for sufficient time to recover and to get an accurate account of the extent and damage of the fire impact.
