About the account.
This Environmental Account aims to document the condition of three environmental assets at The Quoin – an iconic conservation property at the heart of the Tasmanian Midlands Biodiversity Hotspot. These assets encompass Native Vegetation, Terrestrial Mammals, and Aquatic Fauna. Additionally, an assessment of forest carbon sequestration potential has been conducted across the property, although it falls outside the scope of AfN accreditation.
As the transition from a grazing enterprise to conservation-focused land management unfolds, the Quoin Environmental Account will provide a baseline of environmental condition, against which the outcomes of an evolving program of restoration and environmental stewardship will be measured.

About the Wedgetail Foundation.
The Quoin is a property of the Wedgetail Foundation. The Wedgetail Foundation was established to protect and enhance the natural environment. It supports and invests in the frontiers of biodiversity conservation and restoration and assists organisations and initiatives globally that share a similar core purpose. Additionally, the Foundation seeks to promote, educate on, and communicate the science, impacts, and solutions to protect and restore biodiversity, and supports programs and research dedicated to this goal.
The Quoin plays a pivotal role in advancing the Foundation’s mission by spearheading the regeneration of natural ecosystems, rethreading of knowledge systems and the reconnection of people with nature.
The Quoin also serves as an incubator for new ideas around regeneration of nature through combining research and development activities with the piloting of sustainable income generation, offering platforms to validate and demonstrate innovative models such as biodiversity credits and ecotourism.
Beyond its ecological and R&D significance, The Quoin serves as a hub for education, knowledge sharing, and community engagement. It provides valuable resources and opportunities for collaboration among landowners, farmers, First Peoples, scientists and technologists. The Quoin is a place of experimentation and learning, with a number of active research projects and technology pilots in place and more to come in the future.
Overall, The Quoin exemplifies the Foundation’s commitment to championing biodiversity conservation and fostering positive relationships between humans and nature.
