Significant outcomes.

The overall Econd® score shows an incremental increase across the project area between the two monitoring periods (2013 to 2023). Western Peneplain Woodlands (AU1) showed the greatest increase between the two time periods, with the majority of native vegetation indicators (apart from tree richness) contributing to this positive change.

Limitations & disclosures.

Scope - This is a project scale (40% of the property) assessment based on a targeted assessment of native vegetation condition within the environmental accounting area. As such, condition estimates are expected to be representative of the native vegetation within the project area only and not the entire property.

Stratification - The project accounting area was stratified into assessment units based on mapping of Vegetation Classes of NSW (version 3.03) (Keith and Simpson 2012). Vegetation Classes were delineated using the mapping product and were not ground-truthed, validated or modified.

Data Collection - Non-native cover was not directly assessed in the field during the baseline survey (i.e. 2013). Instead, non-native cover was assessed from visual inspection of photographs at photo points. Non-native cover for all plots was assessed to be 0 which was the same as directly assessed in the field during the subsequent monitoring survey (i.e. 2023).

Site context was defined using the best available spatial mapping of native vegetation extent for NSW developed under the State Vegetation Type Map program (version1.2-5m Raster) (OEH 2018). This spatial product is not currently available as a time series. The author is not aware of any other currently available products that are ‘fit for purpose’ and available as a time series.
