Introduction to methods in development.

At Accounting for Nature, we are dedicated to advancing our Framework to provide better tools for measuring and improving state of nature outcomes.

We maintain a catalogue of Accredited Methods a well as those that are actively in development. These methods are currently progressing through our Method Accreditation pathway to ensure they meet the scientific and operational standards required by the Accounting for Nature® Framework, including a review and endorsement from the Independent Science Committee.

We categorise methods into Environmental Asset Classes of Vegetation, Soil & Sediment, Fauna, Water, Ecosystem and Microorganism within specific Realms of land, freshwater and ocean or a combination of the relevant realms. These realms—represent the broader contexts in which environmental assets are found.

This catalogue provides an overview of each Method in development, detailing its current stage in the development process, intended geographical application, intended accuracy level(s) and the environmental asset it is designed to measure. For those interested in early engagement with a particular method, this is the best way to stay informed about what’s coming soon.

Method Managers are responsible for overseeing the creation and testing of these methods and may be available to engage with stakeholders and share updates on their progress. Some Method Managers may choose to remain anonymous during the development phase to protect sensitive information or intellectual property.

We invite you to explore our methods in development listings, learn more about the upcoming methods, and join us in shaping the future of environmental accounting. Stay updated as new methods are added and current ones move toward accreditation, unlocking new opportunities for generating Certified Environmental Accounts.

Methods in Development Catalogue.

These methods listed below are not accredited and cannot be used to build an Environmental Account for the purposes of certification under the Accounting for Nature® Certification Program. We recommend checking the status of each method regularly to track its progress toward accreditation and formal availability for use. Accredited Methods ready for use in the Accounting for Nature® Framework are listed in the Method Catalogue.

**Please note that the information listed in the methods in development catalogue is subject to change as the methods are in active development and have not yet received accreditation.
