About the account.

The Kinrara Dry Tropics Regeneration is a 15 year, $4.97 million collaboration between the Queensland Government and GreenCollar. The aim is to enhance the significant biodiversity values of the region, strengthening financial resilience through diversification of on farm income and extending socio economic benefits to the community, through change in livestock management and targeted regeneration activities.

The property boasts a unique landscape, with ancient lava flow causing the creation of the surrounding mountains, crater valley and permanent spring fed creeks that are the source of the Burdekin River. In addition, the property almost completely encompasses Kinrara National Park; bordering the Park to the north, east and west. As such, this project is ideally positioned to buffer and enhance the significant biodiversity values of Kinrara National Park and will support the regeneration of fragmented or isolated native forest, improving the condition and extent of endangered ecosystems and creating wildlife corridors for the protection of vulnerable species.

At this picturesque location, the landholders run a successful beef grazing and eco-tourism enterprise.

Management activities under the Kinrara Dry Tropics Regeneration Project will be informed by the establishment of Environmental Accounts, and will include a shift from set stocking, to timed, managed grazing to reduce suppression, improving the condition and extent of native vegetation communities.
